WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
SERVICE:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: First of all, what should I
look for when shopping for a photographer?
A: It's of utmost importance to
find someone who is a good fit for your wedding photography
needs (and of course your budget). Many Vermont photographers
would argue that your photographer is the most important
investment you'll make at a wedding. You should look for
someone who is punctual, professional, and willing to cater
to your needs - whatever they are. You should also look
for someone who produces photos that reflect the style of
your wedding. Make sure that you are satisfied with their
past photography work by looking at photos from previous
wedding portfolios.
Q: What qualifications/credentials
do you have?
A: Aside from doing photography
for a substantial amount of Vermont weddings, I belong to
the Vermont Association of Wedding professionals. I studied
photography at SUNY Plattsburgh as well.
Q: What kind of photos do you offer?
A: As is expected at any wedding,
I'll want to take a wide range of posed, group, and candid
photographs while always favoring natural light.
I usually get a wide array of shots to capture your day
in the most beautiful way possible. Typically I'm present
at three locations: the site of bridal preparations, the
site of the ceremony and the site of the reception. Before
and after your ceremony, or whenever is convenient for you,
I will take group wedding party shots. During the ceremony,
I will capture the recession, vows, ring exchanges, first
kiss and everything in between. The reception photos will
include your first dance, father daughter dance, mother
son dance, cake cutting and any other event you wish me
to capture. Along with these, I will take many candids that
reflect the theme of your wedding experience. Overall, I
will be sure to take as many quality photos as possible
to capture the beauty and uniqueness of your special day.
Q: How do I book a date?
A: After satisfying yourself that
you would like to have me at your wedding, visit the tab
above where it says "Check Availability". If I'm available
for the date you've requested, then we will receive a notice
by e-mail, and we will be in touch with you within 24 hours.
From that point, we'll be in touch with further instructions
regarding sending you a contract and details. When we receive
a signed contract back, you will be confirmed for your event.
All events we offer include an online planner for you to
feed us all of the important information we'll need, including
addresses, special photo requests, and additional options.
Q: Do you service places outside
of Vermont?
A: Absolutely. Most places within
New England are within our included service area. E-mail
to inquire.
Q: May we meet with you before
deciding on your services?
A: I would be happy to sit down
to meet with you, although we'd have to arrange a time and
place that would be best for the both of us. I travel throughout
Vermont to do my job, so whenever I'm in or close by your
neck of the woods, it would probably be best. Keep in mind
that many people want to meet to see the most updated photos
in my portfolio, however, we make it a point to update our
online portfolio whenever possible, so that more people
can see them. To see these photos, simply come back every
now and again to our site, and click on 'Portfolio.'
Q: What is your general style when
shooting a Vermont wedding?
A: Every wedding is different,
and I believe it's important to embrace each unique wedding
style and immortalize it in my photography - maybe "photojournalistic"
would be the best way to describe my style. To do that,
I employ a unique balance of natural light and diffused
camera light (when needed). While I specialize in traditional
wedding photography, I think the night is memorable just
as much at the reception, so it's important I stay as late
as possible. It's a shame so many photographers leave earlier
in the reception when so many shots can be taken, but are
missed - that's why my standard package lasts eight hours.
To better summarize my Vermont Photography style, I recommend
viewing my portfolio.
Q: Do you accommodate 'shot lists'
and special photography requests?
A: Absolutely. We want to make
sure that we capture every aspect of the wedding you'd envisioned.
From the elegant to the obscure, we'd be happy to accept
your requests whenever possible.
Q: Will you have proper attire?
A: Most definitely - Vermont weddings
are often elegant and I will reflect that in discreet yet
appropriate attire.
Q: As a rough number, how many
photos will I receive from my event?
For a full day event, I take several
hundred photographs, usually over a thousand. We will sort
through them, and send you ONLY the best, usually that number
will be a few hundred photos. All of those photos will be
delivered to you on a disc by mail.
Q: Do you do photo albums?
A: Yes - Please consult the add-ons
list below.
Q: I've shopped around for
Vermont wedding
photographers
, seeing many different prices. Why is your price the
way it is?
A: Every wedding has a budget,
and we strongly discourage compromising the quality of your
wedding photography. We set a base price which is advertised
on the site - that includes deposit, transportation and
tax. It also includes standard delivery on your photos on
a digital medium (CD or DVD) with standard post-production.
It also includes the rights for you to do with the photos
as you please.
We offer add-ons to the standard
package above which allow you to add some exciting features
to your photos via your online wedding planner. These features
are completely optional.
Q: What kinds of add-ons do you
offer?
A: These are the add-ons we currently
offer. We may add to the list.

Q: How are your photos delivered?
A: To make things easy in this
digital age, we deliver the best shots of your day to you
on a CD or DVD (based on your computer capabilities). This
will allow you to make prints easy at the photo department
in your local photo shop, store or pharmacy, as well as
pass them along with little to no hassle on places like
Facebook and MySpace. Until a few years back, I would have
never recommended digital photography with the remaining
existence of film, however, the way things have improved
in digital photography over the past decade, I can safely
say that the art has been preserved, and that this is the
safest way to keep your memories for ages to come.
Q: How soon may I expect my photos
after my event is completed?
A: We try to get your photos out
to you within two weeks, but our priority is quality - not
speed. It's important that we bring out the best of every
photo before they make their way to you. Usually the post-production
process takes about two weeks.
Q: Do you have any copyright restrictions?
A: Absolutely not - these photos
are yours to do as you please with them. We will include
a written release with your delivery.
Q: What if I lose or damage my
photo CDs/DVDs?
A: We will keep your photography
on file with us in the event that you should require extra
copies. I will keep your photos on a safely-kept hard drive,
should you need additional copies if at any time your photos
become damaged or lost. These are your cherished memories,
so will make sure that they are preserved and properly archived.
Q: Can I order multiple copies
of the CD/DVD, in case my relatives and friends want copies?
A: Yes. Your first CD set is included,
and for additional each series, we will send copies for
the series for you to distribute. For this, we invite you
to use the online planner.
Q: Is there an overtime charge?
A: Service begins during wedding
preparations and ends nearing the end of the reception.
If you require more than eight hours (which is usually enough),
I charge $75/hr extra.
Q: What photography equipment do
you use?
A: I use only the most reliable
and professional photography equipment to photograph my
events (with back-ups of course), so that my credential
can be put to good use. I use mostly digital methods to
capture the event. My equipment includes:
-
2x Canon EOS 40D
-
Canon Speedlite 580EXII Flash
-
Gary Fong Lightsphere Diffuser
-
Canon EOS Rebel XT
-
Canon 28-135 F/3.5-5.6 USM Image Stabilized
Autofocus Lens
-
Canon 18-55 Autofocus Lens
-
Quantaray AF Aspherical XR Lens
-
Steadied Camera Tripods
-
Additional CF memory cards (with backups
to spare)
-
Remote controls/triggers
-
Apple Aperture 2 used for all photos
-
Adobe Photoshop CSII (only for rare
touch-ups)
Q: Do you have backup photography
equipment?
A: Most definitely. Please consult
the aforementioned equipment list. On top of the fact that
we have two of our primary cameras, we use different lenses
and lighting options.
Q: Do you guys do video?
A: We like to guarantee the quality
of our work, so I will not film any video while
I'm concentrating on the still photography at your event.
My husband, Evan, offers a videography option as part of
his DJ service, but while I'm at your event, it's important
for me to keep my attention on your photography.
Q: My question wasn't answered
on here. Can I contact you for an answer?
A: Absolutely. Give us a call at
(802)-558-3800. You may also get in touch with me by clicking
above on the 'contact' page.
